Due to a date conflict with other events in the city of Montreal, the 2015 Montreal ITU Triathlon World Cup has been cancelled.

“Despite our best efforts to identify a more suitable date within the international race calendar that would also be suitable for the city, in the end we were unsuccessful. Therefore, we believe that it is in the best interest of all to cancel next year’s event and shift our focus and energy to a new campaign to stage the 2016 ITU Triathlon World Cup in the Old Port of Montreal.

“While the 2015 project was not without its challenges, our commitment to Montreal is solid, and the valuable experience gained in developing the platform to this stage, will provide us with a far wider capacity to accelerate the 2016 initiative,” said Triathlon Canada CEO Tim Wilson.

While the Canadian city was scheduled to debut on the World Cup calendar next year, ITU looks forward to working with Montreal in future bids. To date, the event will not be replaced on the 2015 schedule.
