The European Triathlon Union recently held its annual Congress alongside the 2015 ETU European Championships, the latter of which were broadcast live on National Swiss TV.

During the Congress, at which 38 National Federations attended, ITU President Marisol Casado praised ETU for the work completed in the last year under the tutelage of ETU President and ITU Executive Board Member Renato Betrandi, a highlight of which was that 38 of ETU’s 42 National Federations were represented at the inaugural European Games in Baku.

Marisol reiterated the importance of National Federations connecting with their respective National Olympic Committees to take advantage of opportunities like Olympic Solidarity Funds.

During Congress, all of ETU’s committees also reported on their activities and progress over the year, of which are pending anti-doping and National Federation surveys which will be used to analyse current situations in order to create goals for the future.

ETU also highlighted new events such as the first-ever Triathlon Clubs European Championships in Nice in October, as well as the first Sprint European Championships in Chateauroux, France and the Youth Triathlon European Championships in Tiszaujvaros. ETU also reiterated that Lisbon, Portugal will host the 2016 ETU Championships, which is the first time the city has done so since 1998.
