ITU signs development grant with the Oceania Triathlon Union

ITU is pleased to announce it has signed the Development Grant contract with the Oceania Triathlon Union (OTU) for 2019. The budget will be invested in strategic development goals including athlete and coach development as well as technical and event development, and increasing the participation of Pacific islands in the sport on all levels.

“OTU’s plan will establish a really positive contribution to the sport through a wide range of initiatives, and it is a pleasure for all of us to continuo support these events to continue to grow our sport in the Continent”,  said ITU President and IOC Member, Marisol Casado. “The plan just announced is heavily focused on assisting Oceania National Federations to create and develop their own skills to attain competitive excellence, but also to support athletes, coaches and officials,” she said

The plan for 2019 includes funds for Coaching courses in Samoa, Tahiti or Tonga, among other places, as well as a Development Continental Camp in New Plymouth (New Zealand). In 2019, Oceania will also support organizing Activator courses in the Salomon Islands and American Samoa, and will offer support to the Pacific Games, to be held in Samoa in 2019.
