Request to the public to refrain from spectating along Olympic triathlon courses

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) has decided to ask the public to refrain from spectating on roadsides during the forthcoming Olympic cycling road and triathlon events, following an agreement reached at a Local Municipalities Working Group Meeting on 8 July and in view of the need to reduce the ongoing risk of COVID-19 infection.

As an additional precaution, no spectators will be admitted to Musashinonomori Park, the starting point for cycling road events.

Members of the public have already been requested to refrain from spectating along the route of the Olympic marathon and race walk events in Sapporo.

The Tokyo 2020 organisers will continue to work closely with local city authorities and all other relevant organisations to ensure a safe and secure Tokyo 2020 Games for all participants and for the citizens of Japan.

We encourage all fans and spectators, whether in Japan or abroad, to cheer on all athletes via social media and watching them compete at their best in your Olympic broadcaster both on TV or digital.

And remember: Men’s race on July 26; Women’s race on July 27 and Mixed Relay on July 31st.
