Workout Wednesday with Stephane Vander Bruggen

Stephane Vander Bruggen has been one very busy man this year scooping up wins left and right. The Belgian won three races at the Edmonton Grand Final, sweeping the men’s 35-39 aquathlon, sprint and standard distances races. Then weeks later he went on to win the Long Distance World Championships in his age group in Weihai, China. Here are his tips for nabbing that top spot.

Many surgeries and with patience + time

What tips do you have for balancing relationships, work and training?
Don’t overtrain but focus on mechanics, intensity and regularity

2000m open water swim with a 400m max time trial

Favourite bike workout:
45kms team time trial with three other athletes and take turn at max the whole way

Favourite run workout:
5x1000m Max on the track with 200m easy float
